> Mid-Atlantic Dining, Wine & Spas

Exceptional food and wine have always been memorable parts of the
best travel experiences. Whether it's a full, homemade breakfast
as the sun rises outside of a West Virginia bed and breakfast inn's
bay window, a four-course meal with a fine cabernet served before
a roaring fire at a Virginia inn, or a cluster of guests sampling
a local chardonnay with an innkeeper in his common room in Maryland,
travelers have come to expect the best at Select Registry properties-and
with good cause. No matter what the setting, however, Select Registry
means that you can count on the extraordinary when it comes to dining
delicacies and fine wine. Travelers are increasingly looking for
relaxation, pampering, massage therapy and spa services when they
getaway for vacation or while on business trips. A growing number
of Select Registry inns now offer spa services. These services are
in addition to pleasant culinary surprises, fine dining and vintage
wines…all of which await you at one of our fine Select Registry
properties.
INNS WITH EXCEPTIONAL DINING - Maryland
Antrim
1844 Country Inn's DiRoNA award-winning Smokehouse Restaurant
is a testament to fine dining. The six-course dinner designed and
prepared by executive chef Michael Gettier will give you the opportunity
to taste the bounty of the region prepared with a French influence.
James Michener, Author
of Chesapeake, states that the "Best Crab Cakes" come from The
Robert Morris Inn. The inn has been serving the same menu in
all three dining areas for 30 years. Whichever room you choose to
dine in you will enjoy great seafood dishes and Angus beef, skillfully
prepared by Chef Donnie Russ and Dorothy Wilson. Succulent crab
cakes made with lump back fin meat, and luscious seafood au gratin
cakes (a combination of crab, shrimp, Monterey Jack and cheddar
cheeses) are "toothsome" as they said in Colonial times.
INNS WITH EXCEPTIONAL DINING - VIRGINIA

to area favorites.
A few steps from the Fort
Lewis Lodge is the magnificently restored 19th century Lewis
Grist Mill, where a most delightful surprise awaits you: a cuisine
that rivals the finest restaurants in the largest cities.
The
Inn at Vaucluse Spring's breakfasts
received national attention when they were featured in Country Homes
Magazine that included nine of our recipes as well as mouthwatering
photography. The Inn's dinners have been featured in Southern Living
Magazine and on PBS' Country Inn Cooking and our recipes appeared
in two cookbooks, Recipes for Romance and Country Inn Meals to Remember.
The
Joshua Wilton House's Restaurant offers a unique and exquisite
menu that changes some each day and completely with the seasons.
Features include an extensive wine and beer list along with the
food products of many small local farmers who supply our kitchen
with high quality ingredients that can not be found elsewhere. Chef
Mark Newsome's philosophy of cooking is to present these wonderful
products in a fashion that allows their natural quality to shine
through. The restaurant has five dining rooms with local art work
from the Shenandoah Valley Watercolor society and other local artists
on display.
The Restaurant at L'Auberge
Provençale is a four star restaurant open to the public as well
as overnight guests. Dine in one of the three intimate dining rooms,
decorated with antiques, fine art, Provençale fabrics, and artifacts
from Spain and France. Using herbs and vegetables from its own garden,
and the freshest ingredients, many from local farmers, Chef Alain
creates elegant cuisine with definite seasonings as in Provence,
with a light hand on the sauces; each a picture to please the eye
as well as the palate.
Dining at Prospect
Hill Plantation Inn is an unusual culinary experience. Guests
are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy complimentary refreshments
while acquainting themselves with their fellow diners, its gardens,
parlors, and wine cellar. For over twenty years, the dining experience
at Prospect Hill has begun the same way -- the innkeeper's bell
announces the start of a five-course repast created by the inn's
talented culinary staff.
The Silver
Thatch Inn offers a special dining experience in its intimate
candlelit dining rooms. Contemporary cuisine is offered, featuring
grilled meat and fish with healthy and eclectic sauces. Whenever
possible, we work with local farmers to ensure that the finest,
freshest produce will reach our dining guests. All breads, muffins,
cookies, and fabulous desserts are homemade.
